This session considers the foundation, look, balance, warning, and process of self-counsel. Self-counsel is the personal examination of your own heart (i.e., thoughts, motives, desires) and behavior through the penetrating light of God’s Word. It is commonly said that every good counselor is first a good counselee. This session helps the counselor learn how to take the Scriptures and bring change to specific areas of need in one’s own life. The two fundamental questions to be addressed by every counselor are “What does God want to change in my life?” and “What am I doing about it?”

This is a session from the Biblical Counseling Training Conference hosted by Faith Church in Lafayette, Indiana.

People are looking for the hope that there are answers for their hurts, their difficulties, and the challenges they face. Since 1985, the Biblical Counseling Training Conference has been equipping ministry professionals and lay leaders to skillfully, confidently, and lovingly minister God's Word to those looking for answers.

You may listen to the first 10 minutes of this session by clicking on the “Preview Excerpt” button above.
