Finding Hope When Times Are Tough
Sometimes things shake us. Sometimes we lose the things that we think are most solid and stable. Sometimes the things that we value—the things we count on for safety and satisfaction—are ripped away from us.
Nothing is more damaging to us spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and behaviorally than responding to the unpleasant, unwanted, and (in our judgment) undeserved circumstances of life with the "it's not fair" attitude. It eats away at us like cancer or leprosy. It is a killer that destroys our joy, hope, faith, love, and usefulness for Christ.
Knowing God on a deep level—knowing who and what he is and having a knowledge of his character—has great practical value in helping us handle the denials, refusals, and frightening and painful circumstances that we inevitably face in life. Wayne Mack shows us how to keep a true knowledge of God on the front burner of our minds and hearts in order to keep us from responding to the unpleasant and unwanted experiences of life with the thought—and perhaps even the words—"It's not fair."

Endorsements:
"With wonderful insight and clarity, Wayne Mack explores the difficult issue of how to reconcile God's justice with His sovereignty. He shines the bright light of Scripture on some of the toughest questions of all and then carefully explores the answers in a way that is easy to follow and truly helpful." ~John MacArthur
"An honest assessment of how we have allowed contemporary notions of fairness to rule our hearts rather than coming to grips with the true nature of God and His character." ~Lance Quinn
"Wayne points the reader to God by surveying His attributes, not merely in the abstract, but as practical comfort for hurting souls. He expounds Scripture while effectively weaving in biblical examples, and real-life cases from his vast experience as a counselor." ~Jim Newheiser
It's Not Fair! is a simple yet profound and practical book. Since we are all prone to murmur against God's kind providence, everyone should read this book. Like the book of Job, It's Not Fair! moves us from a disgruntled spirit to end in God and his glorious attributes. I wish I had had this book thirty years ago when I entered the ministry; over the years, I would have given it to hundreds of counselees. Thanks to Wayne Mack for putting his finger again on the pulse of a pressing contemporary problem and for providing a God-centered and Scripture-saturated solution. ~Joel R. Beeke, President of Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids Michigan
